First on the ground

Our buddy Randall arrived last Saturday after 24 hrs of travel from Atlanta to Arusha.  He’ll be there for a year whereas Bob and I will only be there 4 to 6 weeks.  Randall is giving us some tidbits about the weather, layout, etc. and says it is very comfortable from a climate point of view.

Also because it is just below the equator, the seasons are flipped and with the June 21 solstice approaching that means the winter solstice in Arusha – the shortest day of the year.  Randall reports it gets dark between 6 and 7 at night. That compares to about 8:30, which is when it currently gets dark in Colorado.

Randall also sent us this photo of Mt. Meru peeking through the clouds.
